What does BVLOS training entail?
This course aims to take an RPAS Pilot through specialized training that allows them to acquire the skills to operate an RPAS in a beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) environment. Normally a pilot may fly a drone 500 meters away from where they are standing and further 500 meters if an observer works with the pilot.
Many jobs require flying further away, security patrols down a pipeline being an example. Other use cases where BVLOS is important is mapping large areas, videography and photography in remote areas, mine security, deliveries etc.
In order to conduct a successful BVLOS mission, detailed flight planning and precise execution is necessary. Our BVLOS course has been designed for the candidate to obtain a South African Civil Aviation Authority approved BVLOS rating.
