REMOTE PILOT LICENCE (RPL)
Drone iT is a SACAA approved Aviation Training Organisation as well as an ROC holder.
With the ever-increasing use of drones in almost every industry, becoming a drone pilot is fast becoming a popular career path. At Drone iT we don’t just train our students but we provide them with a chance to use their license through our in-house ROC program which allows them to gain crucial real-world experience flying drones. No prior experience is needed when enrolling at Drone iT.
– English Language Proficiency (Unless the student had English first language in matric)
– Class 3 or 4 Aviation Medical
There are 2 parts to getting your RPL:
Part 1. Theory Training
Consists of 6 days of in-class training with one of our instructors.
The following subjects are covered during the course as prescribed by the SACAA:
– Principles of Flight
– Air Law for Remotely Piloted Aircraft
– RPAS Technical and General
– Flight Planning and Navigation
– Human Factors
Pilots who hold an NPL, PPL or CPL, can, however, complete the course in only 3 Days.
Drone iT uses Mock exams throughout the RPL course to ensure that all the students are prepared for their final exam.
Part 2. Practical Training
Practical training consists of a variety of exercises that the student must become proficient at before being able to do their final evaluation. Most students are able to master these exercises within a short amount of time

No prior qualifications are required to join the course.
